My trip to the Salt Lake Family History Expo
Well I took some time this weekend to go down to the Salt Lake Family History Expo in Sandy, Utah. I am so glad I did. This event, like all others done by Family History Expos, was a pleasure to attend. Holly, Kimberly and Janene (and the rest of the crew) always work hard to bring you a good expo. They have been expanding recently and adding more show dates. This was the first time for the Salt Lake show and I hope they do it again. I usually travel down for the St. George show around February. These shows are designed to be the best of both worlds. They are AWESOME for attendees! Amazing speakers lined up on such an array of topics. If you didn’t learn anything, it’s your own fault. I will also go out on a limb and say they are THE BEST show from a vendor perspective. I have been a vendor at several shows and these are the best hands down. They are organized by former vendors, so they get the pains and have tried to organize them i a way to make it really work.
It is always nice to see old friends and meet some new ones. I love to talk with Holly, the President of Family History Expos. It was also good to chat with Allison Stacy from Family Tree Magazine, Scott & Renee from PhotoLoom and some new comers to the show. I also finally got to meet Janet Hovorka the “chart chick” from Generation Maps! I have seen her speak several times and I follow her on Twitter, but I finally got the pleasure of meeting her! She is such a ray of sunshine. Really just so happy and nice.
I look forward to going to the next Family History Expo in Redding, California on October 16-17, 2009. Go here for more details.
